Other TherapiesAcupuncture Acupuncture is one of the principal components of a system known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). By inserting fine needles into specific points on the body, the acupuncturist can stimulate the body’s own healing response and help restore its natural balance. Harnessing the body’s own ability to cure itself, acupuncture not only heals illness but also rebalances the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the individual. Toyohari style of Japanese acupuncture is very subtle and gentle. The needles used are of a very thin guage, and ‘contact needling’ is used. This does not involve insertion under the skin, and so is unthreatening and safe for everyone, including those with needle phobia! Shonishin (Paediatric acupuncture) Like Toyohari, it employs non-invasive techniques, such as rubbing and tapping the skin with solid silver instruments, so it is perfectly safe and does not hurt.
