Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the principal components of a system known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). By inserting fine needles into specific points on the body, the acupuncturist can stimulate the body’s own healing response and help restore its natural balance. Harnessing the body’s own ability to cure itself, acupuncture not only heals illness but also rebalances the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the individual.

Toyohari style of Japanese acupuncture is very subtle and gentle. The needles used are of a very thin guage, and ‘contact needling’ is used. This does not involve insertion under the skin, and so is unthreatening and safe for everyone, including those with needle phobia!

Shonishin (Paediatric acupuncture)

Like Toyohari, it employs non-invasive techniques, such as rubbing and tapping the skin with solid silver instruments, so it is perfectly safe and does not hurt.

Sports / Remedial Massage

Sports and Remedial massage use a variety of techniques, including deep tissue, muscle energy work and stretching to release muscle tension and restore a healthy balance to the musculo-skeletal system. This treatment aids recovery in conjunction with osteopathy. Treatment can also improve the suppleness and strength of the musculature and helps prevent injury. It is a form of treatment that befits both the sporting and non-sporting populations and regular sports massage can help you to:
  • Recover more quickly from injury
  • Increase flexibility and improve circulation
  • Flush out waste products that cause stiffnes
  • Recover more quickly between training sessions
  • Reduce the risk of overuse injuries
  • Train for longer and more often

    Clinical Ergonomics Surveys

Clinical ergonomics surveys are designed to reduce the incidence of workplace related injuries (e.g. RSI and back pain) through a comprehensive assessment of an employees working area. The survey assess the individual needs of an employee and matches these to the ideal workplace environment. Such surveys can significantly reduce the level of injuries, reduce absenteeism and ensure that health and safety investment is effectively targeted. This service is proved by Registered Osteopaths Mr Iain Chapman, BSc(Ost), DO and Mr Stephen Moore BSc(Ost), DO

    Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient therapy working on the principle that the whole body is mapped out on the feet or hands. When these reflex points are stimulated it brings about positive healing effects on the corresponding part of the body and on overall health. Reflexology is very relaxing and not only helps with physical problems but affects the mind and emotions, raises energy and is an excellent preventative treatment.

    Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage is a gentle, relaxing treatment utilising oils extracted from aromatic plants to promote and maintain health and vitality. It is an ancient therapy that has been used by many different cultures for centuries. The oils are tailored to individual needs and, apart from the physical benefits; the oils affect the emotions and the mind.

The word Aromatherapy can be misleading, as the oils do not only work through inhalation. Each one of the oils has specific properties that interact with the body's chemistry, thereby affecting the organs and body systems and facilitating healing. It is a realxing and wonderful way to balance the whole body and prevent dis-ease.

    Therapeautic massage

This treatment aims to relax and balance the body. The massage is tailored to the individual and combines lymphatic drainage, deep tissue work and joint release. It promotes vitality and wellbeing by cleansing and relieving aching, tired muscles.

    Reiki

Reiki is an ancient healing technique re-discovered in the 19th century in Japan. Reiki influences the body's Chi (Ki or vital energy force) to unblock or rebalance energy. The treatment takes place fully clothed while the client lays on a treatment couch. The practitioner gently places their hands on or above the client's body. During a treatment patients may experience a feeling of warmth, energy or deep ralaxation.
